For over two decades, Vishtèn has been a driving force in Acadian music, blending deep-rooted traditions with bold innovation. From Prince Edward Island and the Magdalen Islands, the group has earned international acclaim, performing at major festivals across North America, Europe and Australia, and receiving a JUNO nomination, multiple ECMA and Music PEI Awards, and the SPACQ Édith Butler Prize.
In 2022, Vishtèn faced an immeasurable loss with the passing of co-founder Pastelle LeBlanc. In tribute, Emmanuelle LeBlanc and Pascal Miousse created Vishtèn Connexions – a concept project dedicated to finishing and sharing Pastelle’s unfinished compositions as a collective act of healing. The resulting album, Expansion, earned widespread acclaim and was awarded Album of the Year at the 2025 East Coast Music Awards – a historic first for an Acadian and Francophone group.
Today, Vishtèn continues to evolve with the return of pianist, dancer, and singer Megan Bergeron, a lifelong friend and collaborator who appeared on the band’s debut album. Together, Emmanuelle, Pascal, and Megan carry Vishtèn into a vibrant new chapter, creating music that is deeply rooted in Acadian tradition yet alive with contemporary energy and imagination.
With their fiery blend of traditional songs, instrumental mastery, and rhythmic drive, Vishtèn remains one of Atlantic Canada’s most captivating musical voices – a bridge between past and future, heritage and innovation.
