Amongst Scotland’s most internationally championed contemporary folk acts, Gnoss’ deep traditional roots combine with a natural flair for composition. With livewire instrumental sets and richly evocative songs, grounded by the unique warmth of their live shows, the quartet have been universally hotly tipped as they rack up international performances and festival appearances around the globe.
Formed by the award-winning Orkney duo of Graham Rorie and Aidan Moodie, alongside Perthshire’s Connor Sinclair and Craig Baxter, from Stirling, the Glasgow-based quartet have been captivating audiences for nearly a decade. Triple BBC Alba Scots Trad Music Awards nominees, Gnoss have toured extensively throughout the UK and Europe, joined by their inaugural Australian tour in 2024 and debut North American dates in 2025. Festival highlights have included the Cambridge Folk Festival, Hebridean Celtic Festival, Guinness Irish Festival (Switzerland), Denmark’s Tønder Festival, Festival Interceltique de Lorient, and numerous appearances at both Celtic Connections and the Orkney Folk Festival.
With the release of their third album, 2023’s Stretching Skyward, Gnoss reignited their collaboration with producer and engineer, Scott Wood (Skerryvore), further exploring their acoustic roots whilst incorporating new electronic elements. The record met wide critical acclaim, and reached yet more audiences online – with over 2million streams in 2023 alone – adding to their rapidly growing live fanbase.
Building upon such a widespread demand and following, Gnoss were selected for official showcases at both WOMEX (Manchester, October 2024) and Folk Alliance International (Montréal, February 2025).
